Does Your Cannabis Growing with LED Grow Lights?

Led grow lights have hit the market 5 years ago now, and have came up in a big way. Now, you can get led grow light in all kinds of shapes, sizes, and types. NASA and others have been experimenting with LED grow lights since the mid 80’s, and we are finally starting to see products reaching the market that reflect their findings. These lights represent a major step forward. What hasn’t really been discussed a lot in the world of led grow lights is their great usefulness in tight spaces such as closets and grow boxes. Probably the best property a led grow light system has is the ability to keep cool- even in situations or spaces where there isn’t a lot of space for the led grow light to be sitting in.

It is often claimed by growers and breeders of herbal cannabis that advances in breeding and cultivation techniques have increased the potency of cannabis since the late 1960s and early '70s, when THC was first discovered and understood. However, potent seedless cannabis such as "Thai sticks" were already available at that time. Sinsemilla (Spanish for "without seed") is the dried, seedless inflorescences of female cannabis plants. Because THC production drops off once pollination occurs, the male plants (which produce little THC themselves) are eliminated before they shed pollen to prevent pollination. Advanced cultivation techniques such as hydroponics, cloning, high-intensity artificial lighting, and the sea of green method are frequently employed as a response (in part) to prohibition enforcement efforts that make outdoor cultivation more risky. It is often cited that the average levels of THC in cannabis sold in United States rose dramatically between the 1970s and 2000, but such statements are likely skewed because of undue weight given to much more expensive and potent, but less prevalent samples. The average THC level in coffee shops in the Netherlands is currently about 18–19%, but new regulations adopted by the Dutch government in 2011 will force the THC content of cannabis sold in coffee shops to be limited to 15%, stating that cannabis in excess of 15% THC will be reclassified as a hard drug. These new regulations take effect in 2012. For patients who need medical cannabis, the progress of LED grow lights has been closely watched.

LED (Light Emitting Diode) is a solid semiconductor device, which can directly turn electricity into light. Light produced is of different spectrums. From the blue spectrum, needed most when seedlings are growing, to red spectrum, needed most when plants are in maturity stage, and colors in between all play important roles in different growth period of plants. LEDs are of small size. What we now see lights of different pattern is a reflection through optical elements.

LED grow light systems have some benefits for cannabis:

First, Extremely efficient and uses a fraction of the electricity of other grow lights.

Second, LED light systems run extremely cool and most do not need you to do anything to control heat.

Third, Most LED light systems can be plugged directly into a regular power outlet, and don't need a ballast or special light socket like most other grow lights.

Fourth, Some growers claims that Cannabis buds grown under LEDs contain more THC and other cannabinoids (which may be because marijuana produces stronger buds when slightly stressed).
